Campus landscapes built to handle the floods, the foot traffic, and the commencement crowd.
Twenty-two years of quads, shorelines, and pedestrian networks for North Carolina colleges and universities. Below are three recent projects most relevant to campuses managing storms, steep sites, and a landscape that students actually use.
Relevant Project Experience
Eno Ridge University, Office of Facilities and Planning
Central Quad Renewal
Eno Ridge, NC · Design-bid-build · Completed 2025
Site area: 11.5 acres
Construction cost: $18.6M
Schedule: Before commencement
Budget variance: -1.4%
SCOPE
Full renewal of a 1920s central quad, including new paving, universal-access routes, stormwater infrastructure, event power and utilities, and a reconstructed lawn for large gatherings.
CHALLENGE
A canopy of 90-year-old willow oaks defined the quad, but failing utilities underneath threatened them. The work also had to finish before spring commencement.
RESULTS
62 of 66 mature trees preserved through root-zone protection and utility rerouting. Every path now meets accessibility standards, and commencement seating grew from 6,000 to 9,500.
